Job sector in Bahrain eyes maximum growth: Labour Minister

The job sector in Bahrain is expected to see maximum growth, said Labour Minister yesterday, highlighting the closely watched IMF report which suggested a drop in Bahrain’s unemployment rate to 4.4% this year.

The report, according to Jamil Humaidan, reflects the confidence that the International Monetary Fund and other similar agencies have in the Kingdom’s progressive policies. The minister also attributes this success to the Kingdom’s ability to attract job-intense investments, making it an investor-friendly destination.

“Bahrain was also successful in acting as an incubator for businesses by establishing advanced legislations and laws,” he said. In this regard, the ministry highlighted the positive cooperation between the International Fund and Bahrain and the periodic meetings held by the Fund with the authorities in the economic and labour fields.

The minister said the government is continuing efforts to enhance the business environment and implement initiatives and programmes that prioritise citizens in the labour market. Wage support and training programmes training programs to bridge the skill gap and sustain employment growth are some of the supportive programmes in this direction.

Humaidan also affirmed that the authorities continuing to build on the achievements to sustain the growth of employment rates. “Besides, maintaining the stability of unemployment indicators is a national responsibility.”

The minister thanked employers and civil authorities for their cooperation in launching government initiatives to attract job seekers and integrate them into productive sectors.
