Former Bahrain diplomat named India's first woman representative to Palestine

Renu Yadav, who previously served as the second secretary at the Indian Embassy in Bahrain, has been appointed the new representative to the State of Palestine, making her the first Indian woman to hold this position.

Yadav presented her Letter of Credentials as Representative of India (Designate) to Dr Riad Al-Malki, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Palestine during a meeting yesterday.

Prior to this appointment, Yadav has held various roles of increasing responsibility in the Indian foreign service.

A career diplomat, Renu Yadav joined Indian Foreign Service in 2013. Yadav’s first diplomatic assignment was to the Embassy of India, Cairo where, apart from the other duties at the Embassy, she obtained an Advanced Diploma in Arabic Language from the American University, Cairo.

She later served at the Embassy of India in Bahrain as Second Secretary/First Secretary, handling administration, media, education and political work.

During her last assignment, Yadav was Deputy Secretary in West Asia and North Africa Division of Ministry of External Affairs, India, handling the matters pertaining to Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Djibouti.

Her appointment is expected to further strengthen the diplomatic ties between India and Palestine.
