The Lower Administrative Court obliged a young Bahraini man to pay BD1,000 to a Bahraini designer after he stole her Abaya designs.
According to court files, the Bahraini man stole the images published on the woman’s social media accounts and published them in his account claiming that they were made by him. Inflaming the anger of the designer was that he was selling them for a cheaper price.
As a result, she filed a case against him in order to receive compensation for the damages he caused to her.
“My client is a designer, and she got massively damaged to see that there was a social media user who was exhibiting her designs and selling them cheaper,” the plaintiff’s lawyer said.
“My client tried to solve the issue peacefully, but the defendant wasn’t ready for that,” the lawyer added. As a result, the Court ruled in the favour of the plaintiff, citing that the plaintiff lost her business and customer base due to the actions of the defendant.
