Turkey most popular destination for Bahrainis during Eid Al Fitr holiday

Turkey is the top travel destination for Bahrainis during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, followed by the Maldives, London, Japan, and South Korea, according to travel officials.

The demand for travel has begun high since the beginning of Ramadan, with some people choosing to travel to Mecca and Medina for Umrah. The increase in airfare prices is due to the global crisis and the rise in fuel prices.

Travel packages and offers are contributing to the high demand for travel offices. Other popular travel destinations include Egypt, Thailand, and Dubai. According to travel officials, more than 100,000 people are expected to be packing their bags in Bahrain and heading for an upcoming summer vacation abroad.

Bahrainis will be looking for cooler climates or value-for-money breaks, and expats will be visiting family and friends for annual treks back home. Areas such as Istanbul, Bursa, Yalova, Trabzon, and Antalya are all popular with Middle Eastern travelers. “Most tourists come to us in the summer period of June to August and winter months of December to February,” travel officials said.
