Woman dies in Gudaibiya residential fire

An Asian woman died of suffocation after a fire broke out in a multi-story residential building in Gudaibiya yesterday. The Civil Defense team arrived at the site around midnight to evacuate the residents.

As soon as the situation was reported to the Control and Control Room of the General Directorate of Civil Defense from the main operations room, eight vehicles and 26 officers rushed to the location.

Investigations are under way to find out the cause of the fire. An incident that occurred in Sehla and resulted in a 36-year-old woman suffocating to death in a house fire was previously reported by The Daily Tribune.

According to preliminary investigations, the fire was caused by a short circuit in one of the home’s air conditioners. The General Directorate of Civil Defense has registered 774 violations related to fire protection conditions against shops, restaurants, and bakeries in the last two years.

The violations were reported during inspection campaigns conducted by the Protection and Safety Directorate to protect lives and property.
