Around 150 volunteers from different countries took part in creating the map that in the end was well-received by everyone who attended the event.

In an interview with The Daily Tribune, organising committee members Wasuntara Pitakworachai and Antonette Avila, said: “When the idea was born, we never imagined it to be this big. The act of volunteerism was really amazing, and it took all the efforts and cooperation from the kind-hearted individuals, government organisations, sponsors, bazaar vendors, performers, friends, and families that made all of this possible.

“We hope that through this event, we were able to provide a conscious space in taking care of our planet and ourselves.” The day was kicked off with a special planting activity, led by Mr Yusuf Lori, director of Information and Follow-up of the Capital Governorate, alongside ambassadors from Turkey, the Philippines, Brunei, and representative from the Indian Embassy, members of the Rotary Club of Seef Bahrain, TriStep Lodge 99, as well as other government entities and community organisa - tions.

Mr Lori said: “Recognised as ‘a Healthy City’ by the World Health Organization, the Capital Governorate expands the implementation of this program through environmental awareness and protection, health and wellness promotion, and restoration through consciously connecting our inner peace and understanding the essential role it plays in mental health individually and collectively.

The event was featured with special talks about the occasion, environment, health and wellness-conscious products and services, ambient music, and meditations that will culminate in a grand lighting ceremony laid out in the shape of a Bahrain map highlighting the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting and preserving peace and harmony across the nation.

With the perfect set-up at the beach, the attendees were also treated with introductions to yoga stretching and a mindfulness practice filling the venue with tranquility and refreshed individuals.

In line with the celebration of Earth Day 2023, the “Health & Wellness event” is a community partnership led by the Capital Governorate in alignment with its initiatives and projects aimed at preserving and improving health, wellbeing, and the environment.
