The High Civil Court of Bahrain ordered three Asian men to pay €7,500 (BD 3,122) to an academy with which they had contracted to learn a foreign language.
This was in accordance with the protocol of cooperation between the academy and its headquarters abroad, in the hopes of completing studies and travelling to work in the country where the academy is headquartered.
However, after failing the examinations, they refused to pay the remaining fees. According to the academy's spokesperson, the defendants signed a contract with the academy to study a foreign language in order to obtain work prospects in a foreign nation via an exam prepared by the main academy overseas.
The plaintiff offers educational services and consulting, such as educational mediation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and other educational bodies throughout the world.
The defendants applied for the German Academy's aptitude test; however, one of them failed the exam, and the other two failed to pay the second fee payment.
