The increased number of large vehicles driving through residential areas is causing concerns for Busaiteen residents. Residents informed The Daily Tribune that these heavy-duty trucks, which are primarily carrying building materials, pass by their homes.
The majority of them are driving to the coast or to construction project sites. They said that, despite the lack of asphalt on some roads, vehicles run constantly and pass through residential areas at high speeds.
They are constantly disturbed by the sounds of vehicles late at night, as well as the spread of dust. They also stated that trucks dig multiple ditches along the road, which people rarely use. They may cause dangerous accidents if they drive too fast.
Several trucks were reportedly parked in residential areas' open spaces, particularly in Um Al Hassam. According to reports, Bahrain has a regulation preventing truck drivers from parking in residential zones, which should be enforced with harsh fines because they constitute a hazard.
According to the traffic regulations, anybody operating a truck, trailer or public vehicle that is incorrectly parked in a residential neighbourhood faces a fine of between BD20 and BD100.
