The Rotary Club of Salmaniya celebrated World Press Freedom Day yesterday by hosting a media appreciation event to highlight and commend the work of the media in the Kingdom.
The Rotary Club was founded in 1971 in Bahrain by people who believed in helping their fellow man.
The club is a service organisation that is made up of professionals who hold a deep desire to help their community and further its progress. The Rotary Club not only gives back to their community through tangible means; however, they also promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, save mothers and children, support the growth of education, grow local economies, and protect the environment.
Speaking to The Daily Tribune, Hassan Al Mansoor, President of The Rotary Club of Salmaniya, said that for more than 50 years the Rotary Club has been on a journey to provide service to others, promote integrity, and foster goodwill, which could not have been done without the support of the media.
“Many of our accomplishments are thanks to the media." "It would be very difficult to exist without the media, as they can bring attention to our club, which allows us to gain more sponsors, which makes it possible for us to create service programs for many in the Kingdom,” Hassan said.
He said that it is essential that people are aware of the work they are doing to spread goodwill and promote good acts in the world and in our local communities. The Rotary Club highlighted that through cooperation and work with the media, The Rotary Club can continue to unite the people, create lasting change domestically and internationally, and celebrate the contributions of people of all backgrounds.
