Bahrain King urges Ukraine and Russia to stop war and adopt diplomacy

The Kingdom of Bahrain yesterday called for a complete halt to the war in Ukraine as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani held talks with Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, in Kyiv.

Affirming Bahrain’s stance in this regard, Dr Zayani conveyed to Zelensky, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s message on the need to end the war and reach a solution through peaceful and diplomatic means.

HM King’s message said such efforts are crucial to maintaining peace and security in Europe and the world while conveying Bahrain’s wishes to Ukraine and its people for peace, stability and development.

Dr Zayani also conveyed greetings from HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the Ukrainian President. Zelensky said he appreciates HM King’s position for stopping the war and the support Bahrain has accorded to the Ukrainian people, stressing his country’s keenness in expanding bilateral cooperation in various vital fields that would serve the common interests.

The Ukrainian President conveyed his greetings to the HM King, Bahrain and its people for further growth and prosperity. The meeting was in the presence of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Ambassador of Bahrain to Germany Abdullah Abdullatif Abdullah, Director General of the Foreign Ministry Affairs Ambassador Talal Abdulsalam Al-Ansari, Ukrainian Ambassador to Bahrain, residing in Abu Dhabi, Dmytro Senik, and the accompanying delegation of the Foreign Minister.

Separately, the minister held talks with his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, on bolstering relations of friendship and cooperation between both countries. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister affirmed his country’s appreciation for Bahrain’s stance calling for an end to the war in Ukraine and the establishment of peace in the European continent.

The two ministers discussed ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation and reviewed developments in Ukraine and the efforts made to stop the war and reach a peaceful solution to the conflict through diplomatic means.
