The Global Higher Education Exhibition “GHEDEX 2023” was inaugurated by Education Minister and Higher Education Council chairman Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma yesterday at the World Exhibition Center in Bahrain.
Bringing together various local, regional, and international higher education institutions, the event aims to provide students with the opportunity to explore an abundance of academic programs and educational training.
Various education institutions set up booths at the conference, enabling attendees to have personal conversations with desired institutions and gain more knowledge of different education programs in the Kingdom.
During the event, Dr. Juma highlighted the pivotal role that higher education plays in the Kingdom. “Modern states investing in higher education and talent add synergy and progress national development."
"It is also essential that the esteemed government cultivate creativity, nurture excellence, generate innovative students, and support the culture of influence,” Dr. Juma said. Entrepreneurship, leadership, innovative technologies, and new research are all factors in progressing the Kingdom on a global scale.
He said that higher education institutions are now the driving indication of development and change within societies. “By creating and enabling strong academic environments and facilitating access to cutting-edge technologies, this creates a competitive and changing labour market and galvanises national development,” the Minister said.
“Bahrain has realised that we need to work on improving the quality of higher education, national legislation, and scientific research, that can contribute to creating innovative educational technologies and scientific evolution.”
The Minister noted how these types of conferences assist in improving the use of educational institutions and upgrading them while reinforcing the vital goal of supporting the Kingdom’s national development and setting students with a positive mindset to skill and re-skill both students and educators.
Graduates from universities in Bahrain, through improved and advanced educational programs and institutions, can transform the Kingdom and create competitive technologies, competitive markets, and crucial research to progress countries.
Also speaking during the event, Dr. Kiran Bedi, who became the first woman in India to join the officer ranks of the Indian Police Service (IPS), said that it is essential to promote women in these types of conversations and to ensure that they have access to excel in educational institutions and labour force.
“Women need equal and accessible environments to fully develop and reach their full capability in any field,” she said. Lastly, a ceremony was held for education institutions in various categories such as teacher-to-student ratio, leadership programs, the best of the best, and student counselling.
