Technology enhancing Bahrain quality of life

Technology is inevitable in people’s lives nowadays, and especially in today’s world, it plays a critical role in the continued functioning of society. Bahrain has a solid digital infrastructure and also recognises that the digital government transformation is key to the emergence of a knowledge-based economy and the modernisation of the public sector.

The effects of technology appear in every sphere of human life, such as entertainment, communication, living, education, working, and so on. It helps people to do new things, or to better perform everyday tasks.

People use advanced technology to perform shopping, food delivery, transportation and health care. This saves a lot of time in this fast-paced world. Speaking to The Daily Tribune, Dr. Nidhi S. Menon, Assistant Professor at University of Technology, Bahrain, said: “E-learning system has brought an exciting revolution especially in the education sector in Bahrain.

As a result, students get interactive learning and resource-based knowledge through the Internet. “As well as enhancing the class experience, technological tools such as virtual classrooms, augmented reality, videos, Robots help to foster collaboration and promote intellectual curiosity among students.

“The internet and artificial intelligence will help you to accomplish your tasks when it comes to research, deep learning and educational activities.” Dr. Menon further explained: “Our classrooms can be enhanced by using apps and techs in order to explain what is important, to expose them to technological advances and provide them with a platform to experiment, and experience those advancements to encourage them to pursue these careers.”

“It is imperative that universities collaborate with industry experts to increase research and development (R&D) and to better understand emerging technologies and what their economic impact is.

“These initiatives will give students an opportunity to learn more about the fast-paced world of business and keep their minds updated on the latest development,” she said. According to reports, digital transformation is a pillar of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, an ambitious national development plan focused on the principles of sustainability, competitiveness and fairness.

Moreover, the Government’s Digital Government Strategy 2022 highlights the commitment of transforming its services through emerging technologies, helping to create a better life for citizens and residents.
