The King Fahd Causeway Authority (KFCA) has announced four e-payment services to ease crossing between the major bridges on both sides between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
This means that passengers on the King Fahd Causeway will no longer be required to stop and can make cash payments by using the KFCA’s Jesr app to pass through the e-gates.
Essentially, the first service is Barq technology, which automatically identifies the vehicles through the car plate number.
This means that the vehicle can pass without the need for human interference. In 2021, 3.9 million vehicles crossed the King Fahd Causeway, which is a major road that connects Bahrain and Saudi Arabia and attracts huge numbers of passengers.
This means that one vehicle crosses the Causeway between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia every 20 minutes, according to data released by the KFCA.
With large numbers of drivers using the causeway, digital or online services make the crossing much easier and more efficient, as passengers will not have to stop but instead use the online services. The KFCA also announced that it offers free WiFi service on the Saudi side.
