Only seven foreigners work for the Bahraini Ministry of Health, and they provide legal counsel, information systems development, and medicine quality assurance.
Health Minister Dr. Jalila Al Sayed reaffirmed this in her response to MP Mahdi Al Showaikh's parliamentary inquiry.
According to the minister, agreements made with non-Bahrainis are regarded as yearly contracts, and when a competent Bahraini employee becomes available to fill the post, the foreign employee's services are terminated after the agreement.
Following its objective to nationalise employment, the ministry employs competent Bahrainis in place of non-Bahrainians with the consent of its organisational structure.
The ministry is now educating and developing Bahrainis to take the place of non-Bahrainis in the second tier for legal specialisations.
Dr. Al Sayed reaffirmed her unwavering dedication to giving citizens first preference in the workplace whenever eligible Bahraini cadres are available to fill open posts. When a suitable Bahraini employee becomes available, the ministry, as part of its objective to nationalise jobs, frequently assesses occupations and seeks to terminate the contracts of non-Bahraini employees.
Several contracts have already been cancelled, and actions are being taken to educate and certify Bahraini workers to take the place of the current non-Bahraini workers. All employment is anticipated to become nationalised.
