More flights set to operate from Bahrain to Turkey

As Turkey being the preferred holiday destination for Bahrainis, SunExpress, a joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, will fly twice weekly from Bahrain to Trabzon and once to Antalya for this year’s summer season.

As per the reports, achieving a revenue of €1,487 million in 2022 above pre-pandemic levels and exceeding its profit target, SunExpress will also reach the largest network this summer, adding 26 new routes and plans to carry more than 12 million passengers by the end of this year Ibn Firnas Travel Tourism, the General Sales Agency (GSA) for SunExpress, conducted an opening ceremony of new airlines SunExpress yesterday at Zamil Tower.

Representatives from well-known travel companies attended the ceremony. In an interview with The Daily Tribune, managing director of Ibn Firnas Travel & Tourism Fatima Ahmed said: “After Covid, I believe we are in a much better position in terms of tourism, and we are looking forward to a successful tourist season, which begins in September.

“Outbound travel is more prevalent in June, July, and August, whereas inbound travel runs from September through February.

“We were formally appointed as their GSA on April 1. We conducted the opening ceremony to inform the traders that SunExpress is now on scheduled flights, and I was pleased to see so many people in the ceremony.”

She said Travel agencies that operate during the holiday season have previously worked with SunExpress as charterers, but at that time they were obligated to purchase the entire package from the charterer.
