Woman gets jail in drug peddling case

Thai woman accused of drug peddling has been slapped with five years in prison. She was also fined BD3,000 by the High Criminal Court. On a tip-off that she was selling drugs here, the police assigned an officer in plainclothes to arrest her red-handed. The officer contacted the woman and requested BD100 of shabu and agreed to meet her in Hoora on February 21.

The defendant completed the transaction and police followed her to her apartment, which was raided by policewomen, who found four sachets of shabu inside a table. The defendant, however, denied selling drugs, but admitted to consumption. She claimed that she was requested by a friend to meet the under agent officer to buy drugs from him.

But her claims were refuted because police caught her in possession of the money, which was given to her by the officer during the transaction.
