Bahrain welcomes short-term Sudan ceasefire deal

Bahrain welcomed the signing of the agreement on Short-Term Ceasefire and Humanitarian Arrangements between representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan.

The agreement was signed in Jeddah and facilitated by Saudi Arabia and the US. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted Bahrain’s appreciation for the Saudi and American efforts to sign this agreement within the framework of ensuring calm and ceasefire and facilitating the provision of humanitarian and relief aid and basic services in Sudan in accordance with the principles of international humanitarian law that referred in the Jeddah Declaration of Commitment to Protect the Civilians.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry hopes that the agreement constitutes a pivotal step on the road to a permanent cessation of armed conflict and a comprehensive peaceful settlement through the participation of all parties in an inclusive national dialogue that meets the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people to achieve security, peace and prosperity.
