The Kingdom of Bahrain has soared to an incredible third place among Arab countries in the renowned Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS 2021 assessment).
This fantastic achievement has ignited excitement and pride within the nation, as students showcase their exceptional reading skills.
According to the Ministry of Education, this international assessment measures reading progress, and Bahraini students have aced it by showcasing their hard work and dedication to creating a thriving reading culture.
Students have surpassed expectations and secured a top spot on the international leaderboard. This impressive feat is a testament to the Ministry of Education’s unwavering commitment to providing top-notch education and nurturing young minds.
Education Minister, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, expressed his pride in these distinguished achievements despite the challenges faced by the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He praised the Education Ministry’s efforts to advance educational services at all levels, especially those related to basic skills, such as reading and writing in Arabic and English, as well as numeracy skills, and expressed his appreciation to everyone who contributed to the achievement.
