The Women Collective Artists (WCA) will open its first painting exhibition tomorrow (May 26) at the McIndeez Centre, in Mahooz, showcasing a collection of works by female artists, housewives and professionals alike.

The event titled “L’ame De Femme” which translates to “Soul of Women” opens at 7.30 pm, and will have on display 35 works of 23 female artists from various backgrounds and countries.

Renowned Bahraini artist Balqees Fakhro will be the chief guest. Joining her will be McIndeez Centre CEO Adv. Jaleel Abdulla, RJ Noor from the 973 Show, and Women Across co-founder Sumithra Praveen are the guests of honour.

The opening ceremony will also honour the winners of the children’s art competition organised by WCA the previous week.

Blessi, one of the co-founders of WCA, shared her excitement for bringing together artists from India, Armenia, Russia, China and Bahrain. “Art lovers here will get to see different styles and moods of paintings,” she said, adding that their mission was to promote and support female artists, in all forms of art, while also striving to bring art education to the broader community.

Alongside Blessi, Nishida Faris and Shahira Shahu, other co-founders of WCA, are working to ensure the success of this event.

Looking ahead, Blessi revealed WCA’s ambitious plans to further advance art education, particularly among the youth.

“We aim to raise public awareness of women’s contributions to the arts by initialising events like exhibitions, art classes and workshops.”

The exhibition will continue its artistic journey until June 2, with the McIndeez Centre opening its doors from 8 am to 8 pm daily.

Entry is free to the public.
