Students showcase their creative side at science fair

Manama

Students and teachers viewed the projects of young ‘scientists’ with awe and interest at Science Fair 2014-15 that was conducted yesterday at Al Rawabi School here in Bahrain. Students from Al Rawabi School, Al Mahd Day Boarding School and Al Salam School participated in the fair with great enthusiasm.

Principal A Sattar Mustafa Amri, Vice Principal Ms Rashida Suleman, Head of Science Department High School Ms Suraiya Sharmin Shammi and Head of Science Department Primary School Ms Kamak Ganesh were present at the occasion.

Speaking to the DT News, vice principal said the fair was conducted under the theme “Save the World”. She said they conduct the fair, every year, with different vision. “Last year we created a fountain with recycled products,” she added.

Ms. Rashida said that the purpose of the fair was to motivate students to be more creative as critical thinkers have a great inclination for scientific inquiry.

“This annual event is celebrated to develop the scientific skills in students and to take them to greater heights,” she added.

She said the students of the three schools were asked to make projects under the themes Save the World, Save Water and Electricity and Save Animals and Plants. “The champion and the winners are from Al Rawabi School,” she added.

Meanwhile, she also said the champion of the fair, Sara, won the championship title for three consecutive years.  “I am sure she will be a great scientist one day,” she added.
