Derasat Center publishes scientific journal’s new strategic issue

The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) published a new issue of Derasat Journal, its biannual peer-reviewed scientific journal, which examined several strategic issues and developments in the Arabian Gulf region.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Derasat Board of Trustees and Editor-in-Chief of its journal, said, in a foreword titled ‘Strategies of Arabian Gulf States to Counter Security Threats’, that with the current pace of modern technological advancement in multiple aspects, with security at its forefront, new developments have dictated rearranged global priorities that demand reviewing the concept of power and mechanisms to safeguard national security.

He focused on the latest military technology in the form of aerial drones, which comprise a threat in their affordable manufacturing by states and non-state actors with limited resources. Some GCC countries have experienced first-hand having such drones target civilian facilities.
