The Municipality of the Northern Region conducted the first activities of the ‘Sawaed’ campaign in Barbar Park in collaboration with the Municipal Council to encourage a culture of forestry and cleanliness in the area.
According to municipality officials, the program aims to raise public awareness on the importance of each individual’s participation in municipal work, and to build a community for greater environmental activities.
“It aims to support the state’s strategies through coordination with the public and private sectors to sustain the development of the agriculture sector,” the municipality officials said.
“It also seeks to motivate citizens and residents to pay greater attention to home agriculture and to educate school and university students about agriculture as an integral part of the food and health security strategy.
“Highlight the aesthetic features of the Kingdom and its interest in agriculture as a historical heritage, and strive to increase and expand the green area.”
The officials pointed out that Barbar Park was constructed in the region once known as the Palm Valley and the Valley of Farms, where divers, farmers, and other marine and agricultural activities took place.
The park is one of the model projects for social tourism in Bahrain, and this activity is a message for the local community in Barbar to adopt the responsibility of maintaining the public features of the social parks which is a shared responsibility.
