Beautification and afforestation projects in full swing

Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry Undersecretary, Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, visited Janabiya intersection project’s second phase, and the project to beautify and develop the intersection of Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway and Shaikh Salman Highway.

Shaikh Mohammed said that the Ministry has made significant achievements in road aesthetics projects by planting environment-friendly trees and green spaces in various governorates, contributing to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s afforestation plan.

Shaikh Mohammed explained that the beautification and afforestation projects at the main intersections contribute significantly to the implementation of the afforestation plan. He noted that the plan aims to double the number of trees by 2035, to contribute in Bahrain’s vision to reach zero neutrality by 2060.

The undersecretary highlighted the ministry’s efforts to work on road aesthetics around the Kingdom, increase afforestation, and implement sustainable projects that contribute to preserving the environment, and to help achieve Bahrain’s comprehensive development process.

The undersecretary was briefed on the work process of the Janabiya intersection project’s second phase, which extends over 130,000 square meters. He pointed out that the second phase of the project includes planting 8000 sqm of plants and 4000 sqm of floral trees. Shaikh Mohammed was also briefed on Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway and Shaikh Salman Highway intersection project, which includes planting around 224,000 square metres.
