Bahrain vows to bolster US ties

The Kingdom of Bahrain is committed to enhancing military and defence cooperation with the US to achieve joint interests. This was emphasised by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister, as he received yesterday the Commander of US Naval Forces Central Command, Commander of the US Fifth Fleet, and Commander of Combined Maritime Forces, Vice Admiral Charles B. Cooper II, at Riffa Palace.
HRH Prince Salman affirmed that relations between Bahrain and the US are deeply rooted in a longstanding history of strategic cooperation. He commended US efforts to enhance regional security and stability and encouraged boosting international efforts with allied countries.
His Royal Highness highlighted the contributions made by the American community in Bahrain to support the Kingdom’s economic and social development.
Pursuing employment
His Royal Highness directed the relevant authorities to permit dependents of US service members in Bahrain to pursue employment in the Kingdom, as permitted to Bahrain’s residents, in accordance with the laws and regulations.
This directive aims to support the Kingdom’s economy and development by creating quality opportunities for all. During the meeting, several issues of common interest, and the latest regional and international developments, were reviewed. The Minister of Finance and National Economy, HE Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, also attended the meeting.
