In a joint initiative by Bahrain India Cultural & Arts Services (BICAS) and Prop Yoga & Therapy Centre and under the patronage of the Indian Embassy, a Manthan Yoga Conclave will showcase native Bahraini yoga and sports skills, followed by traditional deep yoga performances from India.
It will be held at the Golden Tulip Hotel on Sunday from 7-9 pm. Manthan, the first-ever yoga conclave celebrating International Yoga Day, aims to spread holistic health awareness and showcase the process of yoga in multiple locations, areas, and sectors.
The government of India’s Ministry of Ayush and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs recognised Yogasana as an official sports practise, meaning it is now a part of national games organised under FIT India and Khleo India initiatives.
However, there is a greater vision to bring yogasana into the Olympics, as well as efforts to reform the teenage and youth generation in terms of holistic health. To underscore the current health status in the Kingdom, the event aims to discuss the modern health concerns arising due to COVID-19.
For example, instead of increasing reliance on modern medicine, informing the public, especially the youth, on the preventative measures people can take to ensure good health could change the current health issues in the Kingdom if used properly.
However, yoga is not only a major benefit to physical health but to mental health as well. The main purpose of the conclave is to showcase the collective spirit, native skills, and talent of yogasana and sports from India and Bahrain, followed by a keynote speech from dignitaries and common yoga protocol practise.
Additionally, local Bahraini students will participate and showcase their performances at the conclave. Dignitaries visiting from India, such as Padma Shri Dr. H.R. Nagendra, Dr. Paran Gowda, Dr. Manjunath, and Dr. Komal, will be sharing their wisdom on the health statistics of Bahrain as per the World Health Organisation and preventative measures and solutions to be taken in yoga.
Dr. H.R. Nagendra, the President of Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samantha (VYASA), has been an instrumental and guiding light for the policy-level reform and development of yoga in India.
