As pilgrims conclude this year’s pilgrimage, the Hajj season will bid farewell to the summer months, embarking on a remarkable 33-year journey before returning to the warm embrace of the summer season.

According to Dr. Abdullah Al-Misnad, a climate professor and former faculty member at Qassim University, this year’s pilgrimage marks the final occurrence of Hajj during the sun-soaked season.

The current season, which began in 1437 AH, will come to an end as the pilgrimage steadily approaches the spring season of 1445 AH. Dr. Al-Misnad explains that the Hajj pilgrimage advances approximately 11 days each year in relation to the Gregorian calendar.

As a result, the holy city of Makkah typically experiences scorching temperatures during June, with daytime temperatures reaching as high as 42–45 degrees Celsius, while the evenings offer relatively milder conditions around 30 degrees Celsius.

The spring Hajj season will continue for a span of nine years until 1453 AH. Subsequently, Hajj will shift to the winter season of 1454 AH, lasting for eight years. The pilgrimage during the spring season is expected to be the longest compared to the other seasons. The winter Hajj will start in the Hijri year 1454 and last for eight years until it ends in 1461 AH.

Following this, the Hajj season will commence in the fall season of 1462 AH, lasting for another eight years until 1469 AH. The fall pilgrimage will complete the seasonal cycle of 33 Hijri years, restarting the sequence with the summer cycle for Hajj once again.
