The High Criminal Court has begun the hearing in a case involving three Asian individuals, one of whom is a woman currently on the run. The defendants are accused of engaging in the forgery of ID cards in Bahrain.
According to court records, the suspects manipulated electronic records to produce 17 fraudulent ID cards for foreign nationals. These falsified cards contained fabricated personal details, including fake residential addresses.
Law enforcement officials apprehended the suspects following an investigation triggered by an online advertisement offering ID card services. The advertisement claimed to provide ID cards to individuals lacking a valid address within Bahrain.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the defendants were tampering with the government’s electronic records to issue ID cards with fake residential addresses. Prosecutors informed the court that the defendants profited substantially from this illegal operation.
While two of the suspects were successfully captured by the police, the third individual, a woman, managed to flee after becoming aware that their illicit activities had been exposed. Additionally, the suspects confessed that the woman was employed at a customs clearance office and had been submitting the fraudulent ID card applications for approval.
