Cameroonian woman accused of smuggling "marijuana shrimps" into Bahrain to learn fate on June 26

A woman accused of smuggling over a kilogramme of marijuana into Bahrain by concealing it within dried shrimp and herbs will have her final verdict on June 26.
The defendant, a Cameroonian national, awaits the outcome of her appeal against a 10-year prison sentence and a BD5,000 fine issued by the High Criminal Court. Additionally, the court ordered her deportation upon the completion of her prison term.
The Public Prosecution had charged her with smuggling marijuana by hiding it inside her bag along with dried shrimp and herbs.
According to court records, the woman was apprehended by police during customs clearance procedures at Bahrain International Airport. Customs officers became suspicious as she exhibited signs of extreme stress while moving through the terminal.
Upon conducting a thorough examination, they discovered the narcotic marijuana meticulously concealed within the dried herbs and shrimp in a way that made detection challenging.
Further investigation revealed that the woman was associated with a drug smuggling network involved in the promotion of illicit substances within Bahrain.
