Works Ministry hands over NBB Multi sclerosis Centre to Government Hospitals

The Works Ministry has handed over the newly-built National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) Multiple Sclerosis Centre to the Government Hospitals.

Supreme Council of Health (SCH) President Lieutenant-General Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa patronized the handover ceremony, which was also attended by Works Minister Ibrahim bin Hasan Al Hawaj, Health Minister Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayyed Jawad Hasan.

Also present were Government Hospital Board of Trustees' Board of Trustees' Chairman Shaikh Hesham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Government Hospitals CEO Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Ansari, Shaikh Mishal bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa and NBB Head of Corporate Communications Hisham Abul Al Fateh and other officials

The center is considered the first specialized and independent medical facility  in terms of building and equipment for the treatment of MS patients Bahrain, which will contribute to providing the best diagnostic and treatment services.

It features seven outpatient clinics, wards for MRI diagnosis, physiotherapy, manual exercise therapy, in addition to private and public treatment rooms, a laboratory, pharmacy, a scientific research center, a lecture hall, medical warehouses, a service building, administrative offices and parking lots.

The construction works of the project were awarded to Yousef Al-Zayani Trading and Contracting Company, while Adel Ahmadi Associates Company designed and supervised the implementation of the consulting scheme.

In a statement, the SCH chief hailed the key project which was implemented within the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to develop the health sector which tops the Government's priorities.

Lt.Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed He stressed the importance of the centre in serving MS patrients to meet their needs and ensure them advanced medical therapies.

Al Hawaj stressed the importance attached by HM the King and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to developing infrastructure projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He commended the role of private sector as an essential partner in supporting sustainable development efforts and implement Government projects, noting the centre has been financed by the National Bank of Bahrain, including construction works, medial equipment and furniture.

Dr. Hasan commended NBB-support to the health sector to provide premium medical services, which contributes to developing the health sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain. .

Dr. Al Ansari indicated that the centre will cater to the needs of multiple sclerosis patients, including diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative, and preventive services. 

The hub will be equipped with a team that includes qualified professional cadres from various medical and health specialties, to deal with the disease and improve the standard of services provided to this category of patients in order to improve their quality of life and enable them to coexist with the disease.

Abul Al Fateh said that the medical facility reflects the bank's   keenness on  community participation, and firm commitment to advancing social responsibility towards the Kingdom of Bahrain, and diversifying its support.
