Philippine Embassy holds National Reception Day

The Philippine Embassy has hosted a National Reception Day to jointly commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence Day and the 45th year of Philippines-Bahrain Diplomatic Relations.

Her Excellency Anne Jalando-on Louis welcomed guests of honour: His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Ali Bahzad, Undersecretary for Consular and Administrative Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Shaikh Daij bin Isa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the ASEAN Bahrain Council; and Manama Capital Directorate, Director of Information and Follow-Up, Mr. Yusuf Lori.

The reception at the Bahrain Conference Centre, Crown Plaza Hotel, was graced by around 260 guests, including Bahrain government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, leaders and representatives of the business community, and the Filipino community.

A collection of vintage memorabilia, which consisted of old stamps and coins, bank notes, postcards, and documents, was exhibited to give a glimpse of the panoramic view of the Philippines through small things.

The Nightingales, a soprano duo comprised of Ms. Katrina Saga and Ms. Bernadette Mamauag, along with the Filipino Community Band, serenaded the guests with Filipino songs.
