Bahrainis in UK safe, says envoy

As an aftermath of the repeated assaults on Bahraini officials and citizens in the UK recently, the British Embassy in Manama yesterday affirmed that “Bahrainis are safe and secure in the UK”.

In a press statement issued by the embassy, British Ambassador Simon Martin said: “We will continue to do all we can to ensure all Bahraini visitors feel both welcome and secure in the UK.”

“I have been briefed by the Interior Minister on a number of specific incidents involving Bahraini nationals in London. I can confirm that the UK police are taking these very seriously.

“Like the Kingdom of Bahrain, the UK prides itself on being a ‘home from home’ for visitors,” he added.

The ambassador’s statement came as popular resentment in Bahrain increased, after assaults against Bahraini citizens and officials increased lately.

DT News had reported earlier this week that the attackers were Bahraini individuals who were wanted for terrorist and criminal charges in Bahrain and currently residing in the UK.

Few videos that were uploaded on the web showed that they verbally assaulted the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the UK Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and other senior state officials.
