The Works Ministry has announced that the tender for the third phase of the road development project leading to Bahrain International Airport is now open. This strategic road network initiative is supported by the Saudi Fund for Development.
The project encompasses the construction of a bridge above the Falcon Intersection signal, allowing for a left turn from Khalifa Al-Kabeer Highway (south) to Bahrain International Airport (north).
Additionally, roadwork associated with the bridge will be carried out. Furthermore, the project involves the creation of a new temporary traffic light signal, enabling a left turn from Khalifa Al-Kabeer Highway (north) towards Arad Street (east), along with other related works.
The first and second phases of the project focused on enhancing the existing road network and providing improved access to the new Bahrain International Airport terminal building, parking lots, and associated facilities. During the initial phase, Road 2403, located opposite the new airport building, was reconstructed and converted into a one-way road connecting to the upper bridge that leads to the passenger hall.
Additionally, Road 2403 was widened to three main lanes, and a service road was established. In the second phase, the roundabout for VIPs was redirected to a traffic light intersection that connects Airport Street, Khalifa Al-Kabeer SHighway, and Street 2403.
