As the Eid Al Adha holiday approaches and prices soar for air travel, staycations are on the rise, tourism experts confirmed. Bahrain residents will have a six-day break from June 27 until July 2 to mark Eid Al Adha, embracing the time to enjoy the beautiful beaches and resorts that the Kingdom has to offer.

Luckily, the island, situated on the southwestern coast of the Arabian Gulf, offers fantastic views of the sea and tourist attractions that would entice even residents to opt for staycations instead of international travel.

High demand for Staycations

When COVID-19 transpired, people were essentially forced to stay in their country and, hence, had to find other ways to get a holiday away from home.

But now, as the world returns to normal and people can explore the world freely, another problem surfaces: flight prices.

Many are now confronted with the soaring expenses of international travel and are opting for cheaper alternatives. As we see the markets return to normal and travel is restriction-free, demands begin to increase again.

The Daily Tribune recently reported on families abandoning their international travel plans due to the peak in air fares.

Combined with the factors of increased flight prices after COVID and the holiday period, it is a costly time for those wishing to spend the holiday with friends and family abroad.

Danish Fairoz, general manager of 24xRooms/Farhat Tours, verified this, reporting the huge surge in demand for staycations in Bahrain.

"According to our operations, we have noticed that most people are hurriedly booking beach resort stays in Bahrain, beginning at the start of the Eid holiday," he said. Bahrain, one of the most beautiful countries in the Middle East, has a variety of alluring beaches and vibrant nightlife, including Jumeirah Royal Saray Bahrain, Lagoona Beach Resort, Al Bander Hotel & Resort, and Reef Resort, to name a few.

All resort features contain stunning swimming pools, captivating beach fronts, and 5-star facilities, guaranteed to keep you entertained during the 6-day holiday.

Fairoz highlighted that it was quite normal to see an increase in prices during Eid. "However, as soon as the Eid holidays are over, prices will fall again, returning to normal."

Meanwhile, another leading travel agency here said that hotels were fully booked with the demand for staycations at high capacity, but occupancy will return to normal levels once the holiday period is over.

The Crowne Plaza Bahrain also verified the immense demand for hotel bookings. "We are absolutely overjoyed by the demand for bookings we have received for the upcoming Eid Al Adha period," said hotel general manager Charbel Hanna.
