Bahraini Special Olympics team given hero’s welcome

The Bahraini Special Olympics team was greeted with a joyous hero's welcome as they returned to Bahrain after their exceptional performance at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin, Germany.
The Bahraini champions showcased their exceptional skills and determination, earning a total of 11 medals. The welcome ceremony was organised by the Bahraini Paralympic Committee upon their arrival at Bahrain International Airport on Tuesday.
Among the notable achievements, Nila Al-Athem secured two gold medals in the equestrian competitions for riding and jumping. Abdullah Aref excelled in the bowling game, securing an individual gold medal.
Additionally, the Bahraini sailing team, consisting of Ahmed Sadiq, Muhammad Al-Ali, and Ali Al-Matgawi, clinched the gold medal in the unified race category A. The Bahraini Special Olympics players also demonstrated their prowess in other events, claiming two silver medals.
The badminton pair of Sadiq Habib and Mahmoud Hussein earned silver, while Natasha Amin showcased her speed in the 100-metre race, also securing a silver medal. Furthermore, the team earned three bronze medals in the bocce game. Nasreen Akbari and Karima Al-Majid attained bronze in the doubles competition, while Karima Al-Majid showcased her individual skills, earning another bronze.
The final bronze medal was awarded to Mahmoud Hussein for his outstanding performance in the badminton singles competition. The achievements of the Bahraini Special Olympics delegation serve as a testament to their talent, perseverance, and dedication to representing their nation with pride.
