The importance of skill development and digital transformation was highlighted by Mohammed Alsuhaim, CEO of the Saudi Digital Academy and Assistant Deputy Minister of Future Skills and Digital Knowledge at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, yesterday.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 11th edition of the MEET ICT Conference and Bahrain International Technology Exhibition (BITEX) at the Gulf Convention Centre, Mr. Alshuaim said, "The objective today is to diversify the economy by creating job opportunities in addition to promising economic sectors. Therefore, we are taking what the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has accomplished into consideration by fostering our talent."
He underlined how investing and other economic ideals are highly receptive to digital transformation. It’s also great to understand how society is using digital tools, he added, while addressing the delegates at the conference organised under the patronage of Minister of Industry and Commerce Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro by the Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH).
Mr. Alsuhaim went on to explain that they are working to cultivate talent, particularly graduates from IT specialties and digital changemakers who are innovators and business owners capable of creating new things. They also have a focus on creating a more digital society.
"The digital transformation is not just a way to prove a company’s productivity or competitiveness; it’s also a driver to elevate and protect the environment. During this conference, we will investigate the ways in which industries and stakeholders make use of digital transformation," stated Mr. Tareq Fakhro, BTECH Chairman.
BTECH Senior Adviser, Mr. Ahmed Alhujairy, spoke towards the end of the conference and said Bahrain is a pioneer when it comes to supporting digital awards and praising the winners of the best apps in the Kingdom.
He added that the Bahrain Digital Content Award would continue in the future and that they wanted to host the Arab Digital Award. The three-day event promotes the idea of attaining sustainable development through digital transformation and is taking place from July 4 to 6, 2023, at the convention centre at the Gulf Hotel.
The exhibition, in parallel with the conference, gathered all ICT companies under one roof to showcase the digital transformation in the ICT industry. The event aims to support the ICT industry and advance technology.
Through events like conferences and exhibitions, it enables technology leaders and enthusiasts to get together and develop prospective business prospects. The conference emphasised the significance of how industries, businesses, and government entities are gradually being transformed by the digital transformation to become more competitive.
