Child undergoes successful cochlear implant surgery

A medical team from King Hamad University Hospital successfully performed a cochlear implantation operation on a girl aged one year and 10 months.
It was carried out through the ongoing cooperation between Al Mabarrah Al Khalifia Foundation and the Royal Medical Services of King Hamad University Hospital.
The patient was diagnosed after an early audiological examination program revealed the presence of severe congenital deafness in the ears. After presenting the report to those in charge of Her Highness Shaikha Mozah bint Hamad Al Khalifa’s Fund, it was approved to sponsor the child’s treatment through cochlear implantation, and a procedure was performed.
The operation was successfully done at King Hamad University Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Omar Sabra, Consultant Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgeon, and his medical assistants.
Acting Commander of the Royal Medical Services, Brigadier General Shaikh Fahd bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, stated that the fruitful cooperation between the Royal Medical Services and Al Mabarrah Al Khalifia Foundation works to enhance community partnership, human values, and unite efforts between sectors, which has a positive impact on the lives of patients in general, and the rehabilitation of many of the patients who suffer from deafness.
HH Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Khalifa, Chair of the Board of Trustees of Al Mabarrah Al Khalifia Foundation, expressed her happiness at the success of the operation, wishing the girl good health and wellness.
She affirmed the endeavour of Her Highness Shaikha Mozah bint Hamad Al Khalifa Fund, which is managed by Al Mabarrah Al Khalifa Foundation, to continue to activate community partnership and always work to consolidate positive values, support community members, and encourage humanitarian and charitable initiatives.
