The relationship between Bahrain and the United Kingdom will witness continued development and growth in various sectors, MP Dr. Mariam Al Dhaen said yesterday.

Stating that more investment is expected due to the improvement in the relationship in the immediate future, Dr. Al Dhaen added that the ties between the two countries have a strong foundation of mutual respect, appreciation, and close cooperation.

She also confirmed that the bilateral partnership between Bahrain and the UK has expanded and been strengthened through the signing of many agreements, protocols, and memoranda of understanding (MoUs).

Her Excellency noted that the recent visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the UK highlighted the significant importance of continuing to support economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.

This will help open up new opportunities in key sectors and strengthen Bahrain’s economic position, she said. By explaining more about the Bahrain-UK ties, Dr. Al Dhaen said that the recent memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries cover important aspects of sustainable development, such as biodiversity and marine pollution.

She said they also cover cooperation and the exchange of experiences in the fields of financial and banking training and education, as well as training Bahraini citizens in the UK.

Shedding more light on the scope of the MoUs, Her Excellency noted that they will help to enhance promising opportunities for joint work as they include the provision of asset management services and the promotion of investment opportunities.

She added that the agreements also related to the launch of services for the examination of pearls and precious stones, which is particularly significant as it confirms Bahrain’s position as a pioneering leader in this field.
