As Bahrain strives to expand its tourism sector, tourists who are on layovers at Bahrain’s International Airport, ranging from five to 24 hours, can experience a grand tour free of charge of the fascinating landmarks and exquisite tourist destinations the country has to offer!

This was announced by the Ministry of Tourism for transit passengers at Bahrain airport travelling with the national carrier, Gulf Air, starting July 5, 2023. The service is provided in cooperation between Gulf Air, Bahrain Airport Company, and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA).

For many, waiting in airports during travel is a hassle. And although the new Bahrain International Airport offers great dining and restaurants, shopping, the Souq Al Qaisariya, art galleries, and much more, getting a feel of Bahrain is a must!

Eligible tourists will get to experience the vibrant culture and rich history that the Kingdom has to offer with the new free tour. On top of this, the tour takes you to Bahrain’s most loved and desirable destinations, such as the Souq, famous historical landmarks, and museums.

This encourages tourists to not only see the Kingdom once but to come back again as well. Passengers who are transiting in Bahrain for more than five hours and within 24 hours can book the three-hour tour.

A specialised work team, in cooperation with all teams involved, is fully prepared to meet expectations and ensure that tourists receive a high-quality service within the framework of a distinguished tourism experience, as Dr. Nasser Ali Qaedi, CEO of BTEA, confirmed.

Jeffrey Goh, CEO of Gulf Air Group Holding, said: "The Kingdom of Bahrain is not only an attractive tourist destination for business and leisure travellers but also a strategic gateway between the East and the West, as a large number of visitors pass through Bahrain International Airport daily."

He, however, noted that although there are many visitors that pass through the airport, not enough of them are able to enjoy the Kingdom and experience the real beauty of the country.

As such, new services encourage travellers and tourists to experience the country and indulge in the Kingdom’s rich history and culture. The free tours last three hours, twice a day, from 9 a.m. to noon and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tourists must book reservations in advance.
