Bahrain King affirms commitment to Human Rights

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has emphasised Bahrain’s unwavering dedication to the principles of human rights, describing the removal of Bahrain from the list of Human Rights Priority Countries by the UK as a "landmark" achievement.
HM expressed pride in Bahrain’s exceptional efforts to safeguard human rights and support endeavours that uphold their dignity. Furthermore, His Majesty stressed Bahrain’s steadfast commitment to international charters, conventions, and laws, considering them essential components of Bahrain’s culture, Arab identity, and Islamic faith.
In this context, King Hamad commended the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their fruitful and successful endeavours to promote human rights values, raise awareness, and ensure their independent exercise.
His Majesty King Hamad also expressed appreciation for the Council of Commissioners of the National Institution for Human Rights and the valuable contributions they make to the advancement and protection of human rights.
HM praised the report by the FCDO, which acknowledged the active participation of Bahraini citizens in the decision-making process through the Shura and Representative Councils.
The report recognised the significant involvement of women in national progress, Bahrain’s global humanitarian initiatives, and the promotion of tolerance, peace, love, and harmonious coexistence among different peoples.
It also acknowledged Bahrain’s efforts in fostering inter-religious, intercultural, and inter-civilizational communication and dialogue. Reaffirming Bahrain’s commitment to its rich historical heritage, King Hamad asserted that the Kingdom would continue to embody humane principles and values of justice, righteousness, and love for all.
HM stressed that Bahraini society has long been distinguished by noble characteristics such as coexistence, fraternity, pluralism, and acceptance of others. Lastly, King Hamad praised the enduring Bahrain-UK relations, highlighting the strong partnership, coordination, and fruitful cooperation across various domains between the two nations.
