Bahraini residents can no longer share Netflix passwords outside of their households, a company representative told The Daily Tribune.

"Family members can use it outside of the household, only via portable devices such as mobiles," the staff explained. If any error pops up on your TV regarding the location of your household, be sure to contact a Netflix representative for assistance and clarity on the issue, he explained.

According to Netflix’s FAQ section, "accounts are meant to be shared by people who live together in one household." Further explaining, it says, "People who are not in your household will need to sign up for their own account to watch Netflix."

Netflix is a streaming service that offers a wide variety of award-winning TV shows, movies, anime, documentaries, and more on thousands of internet-connected devices.

Earlier in May, the company expanded its crackdown to more than 100 countries on users sharing passwords with people beyond their immediate family as it sought to shore up revenue at the leading streaming television service.

"More than 100 million households were sharing accounts at the service, impacting our ability to invest in great new TV and films," Netflix said. Netflix announced on Wednesday that subscriptions to the media streaming service increased by approximately six million after its controversial crackdown on account and password sharing.
