Al Salam Bank celebrates Bahraini Women’s Day

Al Salam Bank-Bahrain has hosted a ceremony in appreciation of the women’s role in the development of Bahrain’s economy and society.

Themed ‘Celebrating the Bahraini Women in the Financial and Banking Sector’, the ceremony was a tribute to the wife of His Majesty the King, and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, for dedicating a day to recognise the crucial role of the Bahraini women in society.

The event, held at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay, was attended by all female employees and the executive management of the bank.

During the ceremony, Chairperson of Al Salam Bank-Bahrain Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, lauded the care and attention shown by Princess Sabeeka.

She said Her Royal Highness had been extremely keen on uplifting the Bahraini women by featuring her in leading positions in the country that supported the economic development and advancement within the Kingdom from various financial and social domains.

This is in line with the commitment to achieve the vision of an equal partnership in building a competitive and sustainable society whilst emphasising on equal opportunity and to empower the Bahraini women’s status both in private and public sectors and also in personal life.

She said the bank would launch a leadership training programme by the beginning of next year, aimed at emphasising the leadership role of women.

A select group of female employees, who show leadership skill, will be enrolled in this programme to hone their skills and to bring them as market professionals, who would form the future female leaders.

Director and Group CEO Yousif Taqi praised the role of the Bahraini women and said the female employees had played a vital role in the successful progression of the bank and supported the growth of the economic sector. He hailed Shaikha Hessa for the role she played in developing the bank’s business and took it to such a competitive level with its peers in the industry.

“Our celebration of this year’s theme is a special one, as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors is Shaikha Hessa, who deservedly gained this position to be the first in the Kingdom and in the region to take such a high-ranking position,” Taqi said.
