Bahraini Layan Raed creates unique artwork showcasing diverse cultures and landscapes

Layan Raed believes that art plays a central role in Bahrain, fostering creativity, cultural exchange, and social dialogue.
The Bahraini talent, who has been captivating the masses with her art since she was four years old, has created a world of her own by incorporating various ideas like history, modern fashion, and her beloved home Bahrain in her art pieces. "Artistry runs in my family," Layan relayed.
"I have been honing my craft since the age of four. My passion relies on surrealism and science fiction, constantly pushing the boundaries of creativity," she elaborated. Layan’s Bahrain Barbie Land art pieces sparked excitement on social media, with the new Barbie movie coming out at the time.
She also turned Dubai into Barbie Land. The young artist seeks to take people on a journey through her unique artistry. "My artworks take you on a long journey through dimensions across space and time, with my muse being the moon."
Finding her inspiration through music, city skylines, multiverse theory, psychedelic art, and her favourite movies like "Back to the Future" and "Interstellar", she creates one-of-a-kind designs representing cultures, different dimensions, and her home country. All artists enjoy creating art that represents them as people.
Layan said that to add a special touch of herself, she incorporates her fashion sense through her art. "When you look at my art pieces that include astronauts, you will notice that they proudly wear Jordans (sneakers), a fashion item I enjoy wearing myself," the Bahraini artist shared.
Not only does she enjoy including modern statements or aspects that represent herself, but she also strives to depict the traditional and modern architecture in Bahrain, as well as embrace its vibrant culture, rich history, and breathtaking landscapes.
Bahrain’s vibrant culture of artistry Layan revealed the vibrant network of artists, a close-knit community that supports one another in their endeavours. "As the proud founder of Creatives of Bahrain, a platform focused on spotlighting local artists, my goal is to encourage collaboration and unity within the creative community," she said.
The Bahraini artist emphasises not only the importance of artists in Bahrain but globally. And when asked what she strives for in terms of her artwork, she said she wants her viewers to take away a sense of inspiration and to explore the unknown.
"Through my artwork, I aim to take viewers on a journey that reflects my spirit and courage to create beauty even in the darkest of times, reminding them that hope always exists in the universe," she expressed.
