UAE ruler’s brother passes away; HM King Hamad, HRH Prince Salman extend condolences

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, yesterday extended condolences to the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, following the passing of the Representative of the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the United Arab Emirates.

Sheikh Saeed passed away after suffering from a health problem. The UAE Presidential Court made the announcement of his demise through an obituary notice published by the state news agency WAM.

In honour of his memory, UAE declared three days of mourning, during which flags will be flown at half-mast until Saturday, as ordered by the Presidential Court. Earlier, the Presidential Court had informed the public about the ill health of the Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative, Sheikh Saeed.

Leaders from across the globe expressed their condolences as the UAE grieves the loss of Sheikh Saeed. Sheikh Saeed, born in 1965 in Al Ain, was appointed as the Representative of the Ruler of Abu Dhabi in June 2010.

Throughout his career, he held various government positions and had the privilege of serving in the office of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. His Royal Highness conveyed his condolences and that of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Sheikh Mohamed and the senior members of the Al Nahyan Royal family, noting that his thoughts and prayers are with them.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to His Royal Highness and the accompanying delegation for their heartfelt condolences and sympathy.

Later, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister was seen off at the airport by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, Staff Major General Pilot Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, as well as a number of senior officials.
