Used books are being sold by a group of high school graduates to support the disabled community and promote sustainable citizenship. The "Hope" welfare event will take place from July 27 to 29 from 5 pm to 10 pm at the Matrix Bahrain situated in Juffair Mall.

Surbhi Hazra, Saaj Chowdhury, and Adersh Subhash came up with an innovative idea to provide an entertaining game at Matrix with every purchase of a book priced over BD1, and they also offer face painting.

The trio believes that having access to books at a young age can significantly shape the mind and provide knowledge about the world. Saaj said that over 500 used books have been collected for the event, which is aimed at a noble cause and is expected to attract many readers.

"The Bahrain Association for Parents and Friends of the Disabled (BAPF) will receive all the revenue generated from the event." She expressed her passion for reading and her dream of donating used books to encourage a sustainable approach among citizens.

"It has always been a dream of mine to donate used books so that citizens take a sustainable approach." The idea had been in her mind earlier, but due to a busy school schedule, she couldn’t work on it until now.

"As I had plenty of free time after high school graduation and before the start of college, I decided to work on this project." She also revealed that finding the right venue and getting contributors for used books were major obstacles they faced.

"Getting the venue itself was a great task, and the major obstacle was getting contributors for the used books. However, we believe that we will instill some valuable lessons from this event." She also appreciated the support from allies in the community who are willing to help out with causes benefiting disabled individuals.
