A Bahrain company faced legal challenges after the Southern Municipality filed a case against it for failing to pay municipal fees for 14 years.

The High Administrative Court ruled in favor of the municipality, ordering the company to pay over BD34,000 in outstanding fees. Municipal fees are applicable to all properties and buildings within a municipality, except those specifically exempted by the Cabinet.

The court emphasized that the occupant is responsible for fulfilling payment obligations unless there is a specific agreement between the property owner and the occupant.

Despite the plaintiff's claim, the defendant did not appear in court or respond to the lawsuit, leading to the court's decision in favor of the plaintiff, ordering the company to pay the full amount of unpaid municipal fees.
