Ashura season emphasises unity and volunteerism: Bahrain MPs

Bahrain MP Mamdouh Al-Saleh expressed his appreciation for the successful Ashura season this year, attributing its accomplishments to the fruitful collaboration between official and private entities.

The House of Representatives' Services Committee Chairman emphasized that the Ashura season in Bahrain exemplified peaceful coexistence among different segments of society, including citizens and residents. "The celebration was characterized by harmony and unity, showcasing the great societal awareness of the Bahraini people across various groups," he said. "One of the key factors contributing to the success of this year’s Ashura season was the enthusiastic involvement of patriotic volunteers who served mourners in funerals, processions, and hospitality." He further highlighted that the sense of love for volunteer work and community service was evident in the dedication shown by obsequies’ administrations, preachers, pioneers, and poets during the season.

The Bahraini people’s commitment to these values was truly remarkable and inspiring. Al-Saleh further highlighted the significant support the Ashura season received from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the close attention given by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to ensure all requirements for funerals and processions.

The Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, in particular, was praised by Al-Saleh for their exceptional efforts in maintaining security and stability throughout the season.

Their dedication and hands-on approach to organising and ensuring the needs of the funerals and processions were met were acknowledged. Al-Saleh also extended his gratitude to various official bodies, including the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs, and Endowments, the Ministry of Works, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, and the Jaafari Endowments Department.

Bahrain’s cultural and social identity: Al-Salloum

Representative Ahmed Sabah Al-Salloum expressed his admiration for the continuous official support extended to religious institutions and places of worship. He emphasized that this support truly reflects the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Al-Salloum praised the authorities for their diligent preparations to welcome the sacred month of Muharram every year. He highlighted the measures taken to ensure the utmost service for citizens and mourners. "Supporting religious and Islamic rituals has long been a defining characteristic of Bahrain’s cultural and social identity throughout its history," he stressed.

Commending the remarkable success of this year’s Ashura, Al-Salloum noted the high levels of discipline that preserved the essence and symbolism of the occasion.

The commemoration holds a special place in the hearts and consciences of the people. Furthermore, MP Al-Salloum emphasized the significant impact of His Majesty the King’s support. "It reaffirms the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to religious freedom and sectarian pluralism, principles that have endured throughout the ages."
