The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) hosted an Open Day yesterday, welcoming families, parents, high school graduates, and bachelor's degree holders to explore programme options for career development. Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the programme offerings, scholarships, university life, and experience, get their queries answered by faculty and staff, and tour the campus facilities.

"If you're willing to study in the UK, USA, New Zealand, and Australia, this is the best opportunity and the foundation," said Sameera Salman Alhalwachi, Department Head of Languages and Literature at UTB.

Among the top programme picks were Bachelor of Science in Information Technology in 3 majors (applications development, networking and cybersecurity, and big data analytics and artificial intelligence), Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance, Master of Business Administration, International Foundation Year (IFY) in collaboration with NCUK, Bachelor of Informatics Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Business Informatics, and Bachelor of Science in International Business.

While enrollment for the new Academic Year 2023-2024 is ongoing, scholarship grants of up to 50% are awarded to registrants upon successful admission to UTB. Scholarships are available for a variety of criteria, including high school CGPA, talents, being an orphan, having special needs, transferees, alumni, and company recommendation.

As part of the Open Day programme, students from the College of Engineering showcased their new inventions at the UTB premises. Three students from the college, Ali Yahya, Marwa Al Shafeei, and Kerolous Magdi, under the guidance of Dr Ziyad M. Ismail, invented a Smart Windmill Electrical Generator with cutting-edge technology that includes a wind speed sensor reading for the user. "This is a purely Bahraini product, and if you want to think differently and invent something new, UTB would be the perfect place to check it out," said Marwa Al Shafeei.
