Bahrain to boost US strategic ties

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of Bahrain Armed Forces, affirmed the ‘pivotal’ role played by the US administration, in cooperation with allied and friendly countries, to strengthen the pillars of regional and global security, stability and peace.
HM the King was speaking as he received General Michael Kurilla, the Commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM), at Al Safriya Palace yesterday, in the presence of HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Personal Representative, Lieutenant-General HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor and Royal Guard Commander, and Colonel HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Royal Guard Special Force Commander.
His Majesty commended the efforts exerted by Gen. Kurilla to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the military and defence fields. HM King Hamad also praised the good efforts made by the US Navy to protect international navigation as well as secure oil supplies and global trade in the Gulf, valuing highly the existing constructive defence cooperation between the two countries to maintain regional security, stability and global interests.
The two sides discussed regional and global developments, including the current situation in the region. HM the King welcomed the US CENTCOM Commander, expressing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s pride in its solid, long-standing strategic relations with the US, which have always been based on mutual respect as well as joint cooperation and coordination.
He lauded the steady growth of bilateral cooperation, especially in the military and defence fields, to achieve all our common goals and interests. Gen. Kurilla expressed thanks and appreciation to HM the King for his pride in his efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance joint military cooperation.
