Bahrain marks International Youth Day 2023

Bahrain today joins hands with nations around the world in marking International Youth Day 2023 observed under the theme “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World”.

His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, marked the occasion with a statement emphasising the Kingdom’s strategic vision for nurturing young leaders.

Citing Kingdom’s commitment to fostering an environment, HH Shaikh Nasser asserted that the kingdom had devised a well-thought-out strategic plan to empower youth and provide them with all opportunities to be future leaders.

“Under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and thanks to the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the kingdom has provided optimal conditions for youth to showcase their capabilities, and instilled the values and principles of leadership and ambition among them,” said Shaikh Nasser.

His Highness also highlighted the kingdom’s keenness to involve youth in its national initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs), as they are the most capable of understanding the future.

“Youth have the necessary potential and are the main engine for achieving sustainable development. We have great confidence in their ability to share their ideas and initiatives with their international counterparts on ways to achieve SDGS, and build a developed world based on a green economy to protect the universe from all aspects, including the environment,” His Highness said.

HH Shaikh Nasser further expressed his confidence in Bahraini youth’s ability to continue their patriotic efforts and come up with initiatives and ideas that would enable the kingdom to achieve SDGs.

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President, hailed youth strides in the Kingdom.

“Bahrain youth have become a global model through their devotion in various fields”, he said highlighting the Kingdom’s commitment and unwavering care accorded to the sector of youth.

“This represents the cornerstone of the country’s success and edge in global competitiveness,” said HH. Hailing Bahraini youth as partners in development, the Minister of Youth Affairs, Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, said the Kingdom has based its policy on investing in youth development in a modern, and practical way.

Acknowledging the youth’s significance in propelling the economy through small and medium enterprises, the minister also reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to enabling their contributions. In a statement, The Shura Council affirmed that the Day provides an opportunity to highlight Bahraini youth’s achievements and effective contributions to the kingdom’s comprehensive development process thanks to the constant care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The Shura Council also lauded the keenness of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to launch programmes and initiatives that ensure the youth’s effective participation in building the nation.

Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, Speaker of the Representatives Council, lauded the notable achievements of Bahraini youth on a global stage, while Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, Shura Council Chairman, affirmed ongoing collaboration with the government to reinforce the legal framework supporting youth’s multifaceted roles in advancing sustainable development goals.
