The Pakistan Embassy in Bahrain held a colourful and well-attended flag-hoisting ceremony yesterday to commemorate the country’s 76th Independence Day.

Addressing the event, Pakistan Ambassador to Bahrain Muhammad Ayub congratulated the Pakistani community in the Kingdom and highlighted the achievements of the country since 1947 despite all challenges.

He said, "Pakistan today can stand tall among the comity of nations." Ambassador Ayub appreciated the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for making Bahrain a successful and prosperous country.

He also thanked the Bahraini leadership for their support in further strengthening already strong Pakistan-Bahrain relations.

The Ambassador lauded the valuable contribution of the Pakistani diaspora to the economic development of Bahrain and Pakistan and the key role played by them in strengthening brotherly relations with the Kingdom.

He noted that overseas Pakistanis have always made Pakistan proud through their achievements and dedication to their motherland, urging them to work with greater enthusiasm and dedication for the continued peace and prosperity of Pakistan and Bahrain.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of Pakistani nationals and expatriates, as well as representatives of the Bahraini government and the diplomatic corps. The participants expressed their pride in being Pakistanis and pledged to continue to work hard for the progress and prosperity of their homeland.

The event concluded with a reception, where the guests enjoyed traditional Pakistani food and music.
